America... between the rock and the hard place.

As I watch from afar something strikes me as being both amusing as well as disturbing.
The next president will either be the present one, Barak Obama or Mitt Rommey.
Both are not 100% Christian when weighed by the Bible according to Matthew 7:16 "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?" The present day job description of politician makes this contrary to God's word very often and seems to be counter to biblical practices and directives. Yet many voters are being asked to judge them on biblical principles and vote accordingly.
So what should a Christian voter do when posed with such a dilemma? Jesus wants us to be the salt of this world by participating not only at church level but at community and national level as well as shown in 1 Peter 2:13-17 , for us South Africans it is somewhat easier as there are political parties that have based their doctrine on biblical guidelines but for the US Christian it is less easy as the two parties have different views on biblical guidance. This is of course compounded as mentioned by the candidate's stance on the issues as well and their perceived relationship with God based on their respective professed faiths.
Only prayer (James 1.5) can give them those answers and I will be praying that God will give the Christians in the USA the discernment to vote not as they wish, but as God wishes.
We should all remember this in our daily walk when we need to make decisions.
Psalm 25:12 "The Lord shows his faithful followers the way they should live."

Note: I have started using NETBibleTagger in my blogs, it is very handy in that it automatically tags and quotes scripture references on the blog from Bible ORG.

Falkland furore

The recent rhetoric from the Argentine president clearly ignores one fact... the Islanders are not Argentinians by a long chalk.
Having visited Argentina I can also say that they are singularly obsessed with the Islands for a whole host of reasons but what we must never take out of the picture is the fact that the sea bed surrounding the Islands has a valuable commodity... OIL.
When Oil comes into the picture many countries loose their common sense and this is what is happening to the Argentine political Junta.
The Falklands will never become the Malvinas without an inordinate amount of violence I fear.
I love Argentina and the people but would be the first to say... Leave the Falklands alone! You may well remember these words from the last time... we all know how that ended.
"The British won't fight." General Leopoldo Galtieri 10/04/1982

I am protesting...

Today is Black Tuesday. I am dressed in black to protest the proposed bill.
"The National Press Club (NPC) has asked people opposed to the bill to wear black clothing or a black ribbon or armband to express their opposition to the bill."

This is not made up...

Shivhambu is my candidate for Dumbass of the Year if you ask me... You just cannot make up stuff as funny as this report!

ANCYL wants to close Twitter:

Johannesburg - The ANC Youth League would call for the closure of Twitter if the social network administrators did nothing to stop its president Julius Malema's impersonators, a spokesperson said on Wednesday.

"We will look at ways of stopping this... Even if it means going to the police," Floyd Shivhambu said.
Floyd... Floyd... my dear fellow... how on earth can the SAPD do this when they still have not come to take the fingerprints off the crime scene of the break in at the house that I sold three years ago already!

A search of Malema on twitter reveals 12 users including Julius_Malema, JMalema, Julius_S_Malema and jujumalema.

Of the 12 users, six bear the picture of the firebrand youth leader.

"@jacobzuma welcome home comrade! Thanks for letting me run the country without you for a few weeks. It was sharp, sharp!," read a status update written by Julius_Malema on August 30.

Another status update by JMalema read: "hola comrades! I am make some few speeks in SA! Viva ANC! PS. who is Barack Obama!?"
Man that made me laugh a lot...

Shivhambu said that the league had attempted several times to block the "fake Twitter" accounts, but no action was taken by network administrators.
No? Well then Floyd you clearly have no idea how Social Networks work do you?

"Those who are hacking systems and impersonating the ANC YL leadership should immediately stop doing so because the laws of this country will come (down) very hard on them," said Shivhambu.
What laws in particular... these political nincompoops are wont to claim protection from non existent legislation... but when they do transgress real laws they claim the laws do not apply to them as "disadvantaged youth"... and opening a twitter account is NOT HACKING you twit!

He said that Malema did not own a Twitter account.
Maybe if these Twits had Twitter accounts there would be less Twitterring about this nest of Clones... or is that Clowns?
Oh... and Floyd... no one owns a Twitter account... It's free..

The voice of many

Well done Gareth, I applaud your effort to put into writing what many South Africans feel.
At the same time I am glad to see that the Office of the President responded in such an open fashion... there is still hope for us! Time will tell of course...
"The people put you in power - they will take you out of it. Africa is tired of tin-pot dictators, one-party states and banana republics. We know who we are now, we care about our future - and so should you." Gareth Cliff 2010

Busines should stick to what they are good at

... namely running the business. As soon as they bring politics or religion into decision making they are heading for a rocky ride from consumers.
Case in point is ABSA with their Springbok rugby player quota demand and now we have Woolworths withdrawing religious and political magazines.
Now I want to ask Woolworths CEO Simon Susman
what about newspapers, matzos crackers, Christmas ham/turkey and halal chickens? Are they also going to be taken off the shelves too because they may offend certain customers? I leave with this thought...

It's my right

We here that so often these days, especially with all the strikes going on in Sunny SA these days but... when and where does it end?
The news is full of items where the strikes have actually led to fatalities and where striking teachers have literally struck children that just want an education. In one case the girl ended up with a broken collar bone.
I mean, hitting kids with a knobkierie! What barbarism is this?
The worst part is that these striking workers will end up with less and the Union leadership with more...
My question to all these strikers is "When did you stop and think about other peoples rights?"
I seriously doubt that Jesus would have joined in if he were here with us today...
"I would say that if you really wished to be a working member of the community, don't go out on strike because then there's no work and no potential of work."

If the clothes reflect the mentality then so be it

This makes me think of Clown Suits somehow... some characters like Julius Malema would look perfect in these!

How they came about picking the colours beats me I ques Denzil sums it up best...
"That's a clown suit. That's a costume, with a big sign on it that says 'Arrest me'. You understand? You're too loud, you're making too much noise. Listen to me, the loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room. "

What were they thinking!

I know I have been rather quite of late but after reading this I just had to vent on my blog... I mean, what were they thinking? This man has done NOTHING yet! I was hoping Morgan Tvangarai would win...
Now let me go and get a stiff drink!

Calling all South Africans @ 21:00 Today

Calling all South Africans (and people who care) to pray at this CRITICAL time, for GOD to give our country the right goverment this coming Wednesday when we go to vote...

2 Chronicles 7 v 14 d
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray,
and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.

Proverbs 29 v 2
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the
wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

In the light of the coming elections Wednesday, please, pray for our Country at seven PM today, leave the news or whatever is on MNET and go on your knees with your family for a while...

'Heavenly Father, thank you that we can take comfort in the fact that
you are in control of every situation.
We pray for a godly, honest leader for our country, South Africa.
God YOU make the impossible, possible.
We pray for a leader who will bring peace and reconciliation to our land.

We pray for a free and fair election tomorrow.

We pray that YOUR people in South Africa will keep their eyes on YOU and
that you will bless them.
We pray this in the precious name of JESUS.

Amen

Who died and made you president...

Or even God for that matter...
As an outsider I can view the coming American elections with some amusement but something has struck me of late... The Obamessahia seems to act like it is a done deal! Helloo? Who died and made you president?
If he does get elected then I am afraid the Americans commonsense has really left them, must be all the KFC and Macdonald's... then when it all goes pear shaped I can say... you got what you voted for.
Maybe the Americans need this to wake up and realize that politicians are the lowest form of life on earth?
I was prompted to post this by the current Rockwood by the way...

I am also reminded that others also aspired to be like God...
"How you have fallen from heaven, 0 morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High' But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit"
(Isa. 14:12-15)

The slime we call politicians

I am sick of politicians, especially the South African variety, we have a corrupt system that allows politicians to "walk over" to another party.
This makes for disgust and contempt by voters, we vote for Mr X and he wins his election just to cross over at a later stage when the other party winks at him.
This system brings out the slime in politicians who at best are the lowest of the low as far as I am concerned.
Anyone can be a politician and the pay and perks are astronomical, as far as I know we are the only country that gives medical benefits to politicians and pays them a pension when they get voted out!
It sucks...

Cry me a river

Dear Mr Rasool, let me explain something to you;
1. You arrive at Heathrow from Malaysia, a muslim country known to harbour islamic nutcases, not from SA. That set off a warning bell.
2. You claim the following;
"Rasool attended the conference in London on his way back from the World Islamic Economic Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He said his experience illustrated the sentiment, felt by many Islamic nations, that their money was welcome in many countries, but they were not."
Does the fact that not one islamic nation/organisation has organised a protest AGAINST fanatics of your faith to cut out their shit not been the reason why we distrust you?

So drop the victimisation thing and get off your butt and organise your fellow muslims to denounce terrorism and 17'th century practices and move into the 21'st century. Then, and only then you may be welcome...

Politicians are clueless...

twits when it comes to matters technical, case in point is our dear Patricia de Lille. She recently railed about anonymous comments that were put up on some blog criticising her dear friend Simon Grindrod.
"The only way to put a stop to this is to use every legal option to hold not only the website, but also the perpetrator, responsible. This kind of thing must not go unchallenged."
Dear Pat and Simon... trying to trace that comment if and when you get the necessary court order, that would be infringing on the blog site's owners privacy rights by the way as well he rights of the ISP's in question, not to mention the cost involved... why not worry more about crime and joblessness! I wonder how she found out about it in any case? Spending a lot of time on the Web in parlament are we Ms de Lille?

What other typo's are in the closet?

"In an apparent typing error, Public Enterprises Minister Alec Erwin told Parliament that bonuses of about R37m were paid out last year."
After reading this I am left wondering what other typing errors have been happening? Maybe Mbeki and the rest of parlament's 50% pay increase is also a typo and should be 5%? I doubt that though...

Holy Moses who?

This is going to piss off some traditionally weaponed tribesmen for sure!
I must say there is quite a paucity of quotes etc. about this "illustrious" comrade on the internet, so much for being "famous.

FDA award - Nothing changes, even after 200 years!

I found this over at the link;
"With the conclusion of the war in 1865 the Peace Democrats were thoroughly discredited. Most Northerners believed, not without reason, that Peace Democrats had prolonged war by encouraging the South to continue fighting in the hope thatthe North would abandon the struggle."
Ring a bell?

What was the question?

You Are 4% Democrat

If you have anything in common with the Democrat party, it's by sheer chance.
You're a staunch conservative, and nothing is going to change that!
