Trees, tantrums and Cupid

You Are A Hornbeam Tree
You are a reserved person, looking in from the outside.
Naturally attractive, you take good care of your looks.
You are not egoistic, and you make life as comfortable as possible.
You look for kindness in others - though you are seldom happy with yourself.
A bit mistrusting and unsure, you dream of being swept away by someone unusual.

Ok, some of my friends may disagree... Found this over on Scully's Skywritings. It makes me feel less foolish when someone of her talent also has fun with Blog Quizzes. Sometimes we all need a diversion.

I came close to tossing my toys out of the window today, our network was having a diarhetic fit and it took me ages to update my data on the network, get some work done as well as trying to maintain a chat in G-mail that kept falling through the ports. I'm having a typical Monday. Not a happy chappy... The only good thing is I am sitting at home and not in the office. Enough moaning...

My daughter likes Chris Daughtry's music and after listening to his song "It's not over" I see why... so I found the video and lyrics, once again thanks to FoxyTunes... enjoy. One of the better performers to have come out of the Idols mill as far as I am concerned.

[via FoxyTunes / DAUGHTRY]- It's not over.

I was blown away What could I say It all seemed to make sense. You've taken away everything That I can't do without. I try to see the good in life. But good things in life are hard to find. I'll blow it away, blow it away Can we make this something good? (well I'll try to do it right this time around) let's start over, I'll try to do it right this time around It's not over Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground. This love is killing me But you're the only one It's not over. I've taken all I can take And I cannot wait We've wasted too much time Being strong and holding on Can't let it bring us down My life with you means everything So I won't give up that easily I'll blow it away, blow it away Can we make this something good? Cause it's all misunderstood (Well I'll try to do it right this time around) Let's start over, I'll try to do it right this time around It's not over Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground. This love is killing me But you're the only one It's not over. We can't let this get away Let it out, let it out Don't get caught up in yourself Let it out. Let's start over We'll try to do to it right this time around Its not over Cause a part of me is dead and in the ground. This love is killing me But you're the only one It's not over. Lets start over Its not over Yeah yeah This love is killing me But you're the only one It's not over
Great music and lyrics with a very competent voice. I like! So as I sat listening I was run over by my poet muse, whom I swear bears a striking resemblance to that winged archer... once again I feel the scorching of the sun on my exposed heart... this was the result. Yeah... I know... I'm a hopeless romantic and a vrot poet...

Tell me - Robert Le Noury
How do you stop a runaway boulder?
How do you stop loving eyes so blue?
Please tell me how?

How do you stop the wind from blowing?
How do you stop loving a heart so good?
Please tell me how?

How do you stop the rain from falling?
How do you stop loving a mind so keen?
Please tell me how?

How do you stop a heart from racing
Every time you hear her voice?
please tell me how?

How do you stop the sun from shining
like it shines when I see her face?
please tell me how?

How do you stop from falling again
when she touches your hand?
Please tell me how?

How do you stop the rushing waves
when her lips kiss yours?
Please tell me how?

Tell me how
Tell me why
Tell me where
Tell me when
Then I'll tell you I will never stop loving her.
I suppose having Winamp play blues all day and being home alone this evening does effect my mood... One good thing about being alone is that I do not need to close the bathroom door, the door and crutches make it a pain... tonight it was a wizz... Excuse the pun. Tuesday will be better! I am glad to hear that my good friend KatieB is starting to reap the benefit of her fitness/diet programme, I cannot wait to be on two legs myself to start walking again, I want to trim some tummy myself... it is always a good thing. I hope she puts up some of those beautiful church pictures she took on her last trip to her parents.
You can't buy love, but you can pay heavily for it.

Ps... blogger is being a bad boy too, it keeps losing my text formatting!

Gung Ho

William Wallace
You scored 79 Wisdom, 69 Tactics, 65 Guts, and 54 Ruthlessness!

Like William Wallace, chances are you have no problem charging a larger, better trained, better equipped, better armed and armored English army with a band of naked drunken Scotsmen. I'm not contesting that you have balls. It's your brain function I'm worried about.

Scottish soldier and national hero. The first historical record of Wallace's activities concerns the burning of Lanark by Wallace and 30 men in May, 1297, and the slaying of the English sheriff, one of those whom Edward I of England had installed in his attempt to make good his claim to overlordship of Scotland. After the burning of Lanark many joined Wallace's forces, and under his leadership a disciplined army was evolved. Wallace marched on Scone and met an English force of more than 50,000 before Stirling Castle in Sept., 1297. The English, trying to cross a narrow bridge over the Forth River, were killed as they crossed, and their army was routed. Wallace crossed the border and laid waste several counties in the North of England. In December he returned to Scotland and for a short time acted as guardian of the realm for the imprisoned king, John de Baliol . In July, 1298, Edward defeated Wallace and his army at Falkirk, and forced him to retreat northward. His prestige lost, Wallace went to France in 1299 to seek the aid of King Philip IV, and he possibly went on to Rome. He is heard of again fighting in Scotland in 1304, but there was a price on his head, and in 1305 he was captured by Sir John de Menteith. He was taken to London in Aug., 1305, declared guilty of treason, and executed. The best-known source for the life of Wallace is a long romantic poem attributed to Blind Harry, written in the 15th century.

What type of killer are you

No wonder I like Japanese swords...
Samurai
You are a Samurai.
You are full of honour and value respect. You
are not really the stereotypical hero, but you
do fight for good. Just in your own way. For
you, it is most certainly okay to kill an evil
person, if it is for justice and peace. You
also don't belive in mourning all the time and
think that once you've hit a bad stage in life
you just have to get up again. It's pointless
to concentrate on emotional pain and better to
just get on with everything. You also are a
down to earth type of person and think before
you act. Impulsive people may annoy you
somewhat.

Main weapon: Sword
Quote: "Always do the right thing.
This will gratify some people and astonish the
rest" -Mark Twain
Facial expression: Small smile

I watched U571 this evening and somehow it tied in with this quiz and the result, I also know the movie was a figment of imagination based on a whole lot of true stories so with that backround I still enjoyed it a lot. For those who want to find out some of the truth here are 3 good points of reffrence;
http://www.u571.com/globalnav/gnf.pl?url=http%3A//www.u-571.com/ the official film site;
http://www.nzgirl.co.nz/articles/827 a scathing attack on the script with some history;
http://www.jamesfollett.dswilliams.co.uk/u571%20lies%20damm%20lies.htm more cross words from James Follett;
As I am Samurai I connected with the film, sometimes in war one has to do things and ask things that would not be normal in other circumstances. Today we have no further clever things to say...
"The fathers of the field had been pretty confusing: John von Neumann speculated about computers and the human brain in analogies sufficiently wild to be worthy of a medieval thinker, and Alan Turing thought about criteria to settle the question of whether machines can think, a question of which we now know that it is about as relevant as the question of whether submarines can swim." Pop quiz

You are .mp3 The kids love you. You get along with just about everybody except the music industry. You really make yourself heard.
Which File Extension are You?
Jawellnofine... it's me to a T... :-)
You are OS2-Warp. You're plagued by feelings of abandonment and disgust for your backstabbing step-brother. Oh, what might have been.
Which OS are You?
Ummmmm... how did they figure that? I prefer Linux! But this is better than MS!
Ok, enough with the quizzes on to the pop! Ever heard of Lambretta? neither had I till I heard Bimbo and from the samples on their website they sound amazing, not your usual American pop but pop with some substance and a kicking attitude. Fun to listen to. The Baltic countries seem to have some very original groups with good music.
The Rasmus, HIM, Nightwish and the oldie ABBA. Then of course we have the land down under... The Bee Gees were the biggest with John Paul Young and Olivia Newton John a close second, today we have Kylie and her sister Danni and Delta Goodrem of course, all in all great artists. Homegrown ones are Seether, NiaNell (who sounds very much like Delta Goodrem), Tree63, Mandoza and quite a whole plethora of others, just a pity South African artists are looked down on when they try to break into the American market.
Tonight I sign off with an oldie.
Written by Bob Dylan but I think Olivia made it famous.
If not for you
If not for you
Babe I couldn't even find the door
I couldn't even see the floor
I'd be sad and blue
If not for you

If not for you
Babe the night would see me wide awake
The day would surely have to break
And it would not be new
If not for you

If not for you my sky would fall
Rain would gather too
Without your love I'd be nowhere at all
I'd be lost if not for you

If not for you
The winter would hold no spring
Couldn't hear a robin sing
I just wouldn't have a clue

It not for you
If not for you my sky would fall
Rain would gather too
Without your love I'd be nowhere at all
I'd be lost if not for you

If not for you
The winter would hold no spring
You couldn't hear a robin sing
I just wouldn't have a clue
If not for you
If not for you
Hope you liked that flashback. I tend to agree with tonight's quote.
"I learned in the last few years that it's really unhappy and really unsustainable to try and base your well being on something as arbitrary as record sale and critical acclaim and the interests of the public. All of those things are so fickle. So my approach now to music is I want to make records that I love, and I hope that other people love them, then that's OK." Moby, quoted on CNN.com, March 2005

Quizilla - ?? Which Of The Seven Deadly Sins Are You ??
Angel
You are... WAIT! - you're none of the Sins you're
an Angel!
Perfect, or close enough, and annoyingly so! Did
you always
behave so 'just right'. ARGHHH . You can annoy the
hell outta
people with your attitude, but no doubt your church
is real happy
with you. The positive side certainly outweighs the
negative,
after all, you do chores, are smart, are cute, do
charity work.
Least you know what a perfect saint you are. You
just make the rest
of us sinners vomit. Perhaps you could break the
rules once in a while, go wild - Eat an extra
cookie or something.
However - congratulations on being the most pure,
of the entire human race.

Dark, mysterious - but unforgettable. You have a

the
limelight but often your intelligence puts you in
at the
deep end. You're like a Sapphire, because, your
beauty is priceless.
You're intelligent, full of opinions, and not
big-headed about it all.
Sometimes you need to put yourself out there, as
you can be a bit shy.
Congratulations ... You're the mysterious gem
everybody wants to have and learn more about.

Whoa.... Passionate eh ?? Typically you're a fiery,
zesty dominant person. As the hottest season,
you certainly ooze Sex appeal. You have
confidence which draws people to you, and you
have the makings of a good leader.
However sometimes your exterior is stronger then
you are and so you scare people off before they
can get close.

Well done... You're the most memorable of seasons

Instruments of change

How does one change? I really don't know, all I know is that I am not the same as a few years ago. My theory is that you change from within and from outside, from within due to introspection and self apraisal and from outside through the people you meet and that surround you. Another aspect of change is habits... hard to change unless you use replacement as a means to effect the change, by this I mean learn a new good habit to change/replace a bad one... it works... PIP is an example of this change of habit, when you feel like the world is squashing you... squash back!
Now for something amazing, was browseing the
Tickle site and did the "What is your lucky number" test and got this result: RobC you are a Four!
As a 4, you're no stranger to melodrama. What's that? Are those violins playing gently in the background? And like all good performers, you are in touch with a variety of your inner characters. You've got all the angst of an early '90s garage band, but fortunately it fuels your creative urges and helps you relate to others. When your friends aren't giving you a standing ovation, they're sharing their feelings because you really listen. 4s have an inner Vasco De Gama of sorts, as they fearlessly explore uncharted emotions within. As a Romantic, you enjoy emotion whether it's watching a sappy John Hughes film for the 20th time since high school or pursuing that mysterious lover who doesn't know you exist. But be careful, road kill just might take you a little longer than your friends to get over. And ending a relationship of any kind might send you straight into a depression you oblige with a healthy dose of Peter Gabriel or Enya. At your best, you can harness your emotions like few others to produce unique expressions of yourself. Your need to "feel" might lead you to commit risky acts that could hurt you. Some fellow 4s J.D. Salinger, the Artist-who-can't-stop-changing-his-name-to-Prince, would you care to chime in? But trusting your self-knowledge gives you an advantage that others lack. All in all, it's not a bad gig being a 4.
Sounds crazy but a lot is true... and I have taken this test on three diffrent occasions too! Well on to the violins...
Intrumental music is something that is scarcely heard these days, if it does not have vocals it is not played! I wonder why? I can still remember some great ones from the past like Apache by the
Shadows, thank goodness some groups keep up the tradition. Safri Duo is one as well as Blue Man Group, both use pecussion instruments to get the message across. Then we have the more classical inclined like Vanessa Mae with Destiny as well as Bond the four girl group that play their violins with such passion while still looking stunning. Must get a listen to their new CD Classified. As we have no lyrics today I am signing off with this though provoking poem that has elements of all my thoughts today.

Road Kill - Harry Edward Gilleland

Strange how weird thoughts enter my mind.
I’ll be thinking something, then they jump right in,
like how when I was much younger, I wasn’t so kind,
not as caring and sympathetic as I might have been.

Take whenever I’d be the one to create more road kill :
Once while driving along in my VW bug, windows down,
wind blowing my hair – yes, back then I HAD hair still –
I ran over two huge grasshoppers, with a loud crunching sound.

They were too busy copulating in the middle of the road
to jump away. I shouted “Look! I just squashed a romance.”
(I know, bad as “Frog legs for supper!” for a flattened toad...)
I enjoyed making a joke out of road kill at every chance.

Nobody cares about bugs or toads, but how about a cat?
Once this young cat darted into the street in front of my car.
Hearing the thud, I looked back. He was alive – I saw that...
I said “Well, he’s down to eight! That’s one life he lost so far.”

I drove on my way that day, giving that hurt cat not a care
35 years ago. Nowadays he lives in my dreams, making me cry.
I feel his suffering. I see a child grieving over her pet so dear.
How I hope he survived, that I wasn’t the reason for him to die.

PIG! I thought I was a Horse?

Pig!
Nggghhaahhh!
Grrr arrr Rum and Monkey again. OK... but it was fun... Something we need to do each day, do something outrageously fun and you will stay young at heart, even if it filling in a stupid online quiz... Stress is all around us in many forms and we must find ways to destress every day. I do online quizzes... My chinese horrorscope says I am a horse, my IQ is 300 and I am a pro leftist right wing libertarian anarchist... go figure, but it makes me laugh. Just be carefull of the real life stuff... cracked 3 ribs last time I ventured out on our track on a BMX bike... jokes were a pain for six weeks! "Heard that one about the blonde?" errr no mate and not tonight Josephine!
Wow... just seen the new 407 ad on tv... I dont like the car at all but the ad was super imaginative... Playtime Over. Those guys must have had a whale of a time doing all the toy car bits, one of the best I have seen in ages. The new Castrol ad series leaves me stone cold however, I want the old crew back! CSI was very interesting as usual, I will have to wach my iron intake... don't want to turn into a livewire like the poor victim...

Been listening to Sarah Mclachlan tonight, great voice but what was amazing is that she did a song with Delerium, amazing tracks called Silence, the one remixed by Tiesto being the best to my mind also a whole eleven and a half minutes long... gets one quite out of breath if you take it for a spin on the floor. Delerium is of course a nom de musique for Ryhs Fulber and Bill Leeb also known as Front Line Assembly. Chimera is the latest CD... on my wishlist of course...
Silence - Delerium.
Give me release
Witness me, I am outside

Give me peace
Heaven holds a sense of wonder
And I wanted to believe
that I'd get caught up
when the rage in me subsides

Passion chokes the flower until she cries no more
Possessing all the beauty hungry still for more

Heaven holds a sense of wonder
And I wanted to believe that I'd get caught up

When the rage in me subsides
In this white wave
I am sinking
In this silence

In this white wave ... in this silence ...
I believe I can't help this longing ...
comfort me I can't hold it all in ...
if you won't let me ...

Heaven holds a sense of wonder
And I wanted to believe that I'd get caught up

When the rage in me subsides
In this white wave
I am sinking
In this silence

In this white wave ...
in this silence I believe I have seen you ...
in this white wave you are silent
You are breathing in this white wave ...
I am free
Thats the lot for today... will get around to sort out the sudden emergence of a bigger font on the sidebar... I did nuffin! I swear Doc! (Found out it was a font error on a previous post.)

The whole ten yards and some

Went to see The whole ten yards today, great fun having the kids along and we enjoyed the film immensly, comedy drama at it's best, Bruce Willis was brilliant in the part of the mass murderer Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski. Remarkably little foul language used and when used as in the part where the mobster (hungerian accent) saying "FU" was hillariously funny.
Sitting around at home later I discovered that a favourite song of mine in a previous posting (
friday ) was in an Austen Powers movie... Funny I have not been attracted to that particular type of humor, must be the silly faces used... Got a funny look from my daughter when I said I had not seen any... they love them. Suppose I will have to make a point and rent em to get up to sped with Mr Powers and his antics. .
Don't you just like these online quizzes... Found this one and had a good laugh...

Very amusing...

Music is a salve to the wounded heart, dunno who said that but it makes sense, lately I have not been in the mood for any mushy music but last night after posting and getting ready for bed I get a call... Well so much for my mood... We had a blast, some of the folks at the MX club had decided on an "afterparty" spent the best part of 3 hours there until I was tottering around from exaustion... two late nights had merged into a blur. Hopefully can get to bed early tonight. The music was mostly Thechno/Rave/Rock and it got my spirits up... had great fun dancing. Now all I need is a kindred spirit...
