Ouch...

That box was left open again... next thing I get whisked of to the Vet... I must say I am feeling much perkier after getting that horrid abcess fixed... but why does the Man keep popping these horrible tasting pills down my throat twice a day? Humans... I'll never understand the critters...

I had one!

BBC NEWS | Magazine | The old new I remember this as a kid, my dad bought me a second hand one for my 5th birthday! Here is a picture: More pics here...ipod vs radio and some history on Steve Reyers site, mine was not a Regency but a Supersonic, I think they were made in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and it was similar in design and size. They used a 9v battery.
The best is I have the remains in one of my scrapboxes... must dig it out and see if it still works...
To be continued...

Mars 'more active than suspected'

Mars is having a climate change... Interesting snippet of information... I wonder what is causing it? Must be the 2 rovers running about the place... Oh I forgot... they are solar powered.

Score: 1 for Democracy - 0 for the Taliban

Hurrah for the citizens of Afganistan... well done!
This proves once again that the brand of islam promoted by the Taliban is not what the normal citizens want. I congratulate the Afgan Goverment as well as all the countries that have aided this country to stage a virtually peacefull election. Common sense has prevailed over evil.

One word fade to grey

Seems like we have a case of plagiarism on the music scale going on here. Yesterday I saw Kelly Osbourne singing One Word on TV... the song struck a chord. Kelly's performance of this song is brilliant and I love it, but play it with Fade to Grey by Visage (No official site, Mige Ure here.) and suddenly your ears ignore the lyrics and synch in to the music! I am no musician but I bet the chords are the same or so similar to be a clone.
Dont get me wrong, as I said, I love the song! But clearly somone has been tinkering with Visage's toys here. It is one thing to write new lyrics to an existing piece of music, it gets done all over the world were a German song gets re written into Afrikaans or English, usually the remake artist/lyricist acknowleges the fact, but in this case it was not done. I know the lyrics are totaly diffent but that is not the point... the music and style is just way too similar. Looks like the real quilty party is Linda Perry who did the graftwork on this song... Shame on her...
As I was writing this I was googling and found another site that seems to agree, looks like this is a story that did not go unnoticed. HT to
Arjan Writes (I will be putting him on my Favs.)
Oh yes... M turned 21 today... had his party last night and was slightly subdued today at the teaparty I had in his honour... he did perk up later though... all that water started rehydrating his shocked system... (been there done that)
Jokes aside, I thank God that He gave us such a wonderful son...
So to stirr the pot here are the lyrics to the songs in the dock...

Fade To Grey -
Visage

Deperir a gris - deperir a gris.
One man on a lonely platform
One case sitting by his side.
Two eyes staring cold and silent
Show fear as he turns to hide.
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Un homme dans une gare desolee
Une valise a ses cotes.
Deux yeux fixes et froids -
Montre de la peur lorsqu'il
Se tourne pour se cacher.
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Sent la pluie comme un ete anglais.
Comme les notes d'une chanson lointaine
Sortant de derriere d'un poster esperant
Que la vie ne fut si longue.
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Feel the rain
like an English summer
Feel the notes from a distant song.
Stepping out from a back shop poster
Wishing life wouldn't be so dull.
Deperir a gris
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey
Deperir a gris
Ah
we fade to grey - fade to grey

One Word -
Kelly Osbourne

One word breaks the code of silence
Silence tells me all I need to know
One Word
One Word tells me everything I need to know

One word driven in to madness
Madness driven by the depths below
One Word
One Word tells me everything I need to know

[chorus]
It's not the way that I want it,
It's just the way that I need it
Day after day
(Jour après jour)
(On vous a menti ?)
It's not the way that I want it
It's just the way that I need it
Day after day
(Jour après jour)
(On vous a menti ?)

One lie tells a thousand stories
The greatest stories that were ever told
One lie
One lie tells the greatest stories ever told

One man can predict the future
a future journey in to outer space
One Man
One Man, a future journey in to outer space

[chorus 2x]

Est-ce trop périlleux pour vous ?
Un mot vous dit tout ce que vous avez besoin de savoir
Tout ce dont vous avez besoin
Jour après jour
On vous a menti ?
Un mot

[chorus 2x]

As you see... the words are diffrent... but the music ain't... so we end with these words from another song...
"Red is grey and yellow white
We decide which is right
and which is an illusion."
Moody Blues, "Tuesday Afternoon"

What type of killer are you

No wonder I like Japanese swords...
Samurai
You are a Samurai.
You are full of honour and value respect. You
are not really the stereotypical hero, but you
do fight for good. Just in your own way. For
you, it is most certainly okay to kill an evil
person, if it is for justice and peace. You
also don't belive in mourning all the time and
think that once you've hit a bad stage in life
you just have to get up again. It's pointless
to concentrate on emotional pain and better to
just get on with everything. You also are a
down to earth type of person and think before
you act. Impulsive people may annoy you
somewhat.

Main weapon: Sword
Quote: "Always do the right thing.
This will gratify some people and astonish the
rest" -Mark Twain
Facial expression: Small smile

Quizilla

I watched U571 this evening and somehow it tied in with this quiz and the result, I also know the movie was a figment of imagination based on a whole lot of true stories so with that backround I still enjoyed it a lot. For those who want to find out some of the truth here are 3 good points of reffrence;
http://www.u571.com/globalnav/gnf.pl?url=http%3A//www.u-571.com/ the official film site;
http://www.nzgirl.co.nz/articles/827 a scathing attack on the script with some history;
http://www.jamesfollett.dswilliams.co.uk/u571%20lies%20damm%20lies.htm more cross words from James Follett;
As I am Samurai I connected with the film, sometimes in war one has to do things and ask things that would not be normal in other circumstances. Today we have no further clever things to say...
"The fathers of the field had been pretty confusing: John von Neumann speculated about computers and the human brain in analogies sufficiently wild to be worthy of a medieval thinker, and Alan Turing thought about criteria to settle the question of whether machines can think, a question of which we now know that it is about as relevant as the question of whether submarines can swim." Professor Edsger Dijkstra, at the ACN South Central Regional Conference, Austin, Texas, 16 to 18 Novemver 1984

Eject! Eject! Eject!: TRIBES

Eject! Eject! Eject!: TRIBES What can I add? not much... go and read and decide what tribe you belong to.
I suppose one could also say the Grey are كافر

Going going gone

I sold the "Old Tiger" today, may the new owner have as much fun as I had. Sad to see it go though but I just did not have the time or cash to fix it up properly, it was worse seeing it gather dust in the carport. Nothing wrong with the motor though, fired up after a few cranks and off they went. That after about 9 months of standing! Mini's do not die they just keep on motoring... This weekend I was compiling some of the car/racing/road related music and came up with this compilation, not comprehensive by a long chalk!

Ok sue me... three of the same, I love all three versions of I Drove All Night! so what the heck I put them all into the compilation, one that is missing is Motorbikin by Chris Spedding, the song evokes all that is fun of speeding down a highway. One day... soon I hope... I will be motorbikin... Now why the Miami Vice Theme? not quite highway I know but that boat speeding down the canal in the intro while the music played always evoked the same feelings as Radar Love by Golden Earing... man! Way cool dude... Then we have the Roxette songs... Joyride - Sleeping in my - Car It Takes no Time to Get Here. Of course I could go on about them all... Enjoyed listening to them as I typed up the blog.
The lyrics come from Kareema and
Cool Your Engines
:
Cool your engines standby
cause you've got just one chance in your life
at the end of the night
as you're waiting on the starting line
cool your engines standby
cause you've got just one chance tonight
to do what is right
as we are waiting on the starting line
and if you think that you might
give up this time with no try
and be waiting tonight
it's the longest part of your life
i wanna tell you "Allright"
the patience is so hard to try
cool your engines standy
as we are waiting on the starting line
cool your engines standby
Now before I get sentimental let me finish off with this gem.

Giant eye spots 'first light'

Way to go! This is amazing news. The people down in Sutherland have done a fine job, it may be a one horse town with the coldest nights in the country but then that is just what one needs for a starry view. Go and check out what is being done at SALT. This gives an idea of the surrounds of the observatory.
