Why I love the Green Ogre

Yep, Shrek... and I can't wait for Shrek the Third.

I have been looking at the soundtrack and WOW, some real oldies there that I am looking forward to see how they fit into the story.
Here is the list;
1. Eels - Royal Pain
2. The Ramones - Do You Remember Rock N Roll Radio
3. Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
4. Fergie - Barracuda
5. Wings - Live And Let Die
6. Matt White - Best Days
7. Wolfmother - Joker And The Thief
8. Trevor Hall - Other Ways
9. Harry Chapin - Cats In The Cradle
10. Eels - Losing Streak
11. Macy Gray - What I Gotta Do
12. Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas - Thank You (falletin Me Be Mice Elf Again)
13. Maya Rudolph And Rupert Everett - Final Showdown
14. Harry Greggson - Williams - Charmings Plan
I have some of them like Led Zeppelin and Harry Chapin but the Eels are new to me...
I hope Eddie and Antonio 's duet is as good as Livin' La Vida Loca from Shrek 2, then we are in for a hoot of a song! I see some sites mention 15 tracks, Shrek 2 also had a bonus track, Holding out for a hero by Jennifer Saunders (Fairy Godmother) although I prefer the Frou Frou version with Imogen Heap doing the vocals.
Imogen is also one of my Angelic Voices (still in progress, got carried away with this one) I like... if you get a chance get the soundtracks off all the Shrek's... there is some good music on them all with a dash of the eclectic as well.
Here are the previous Shrek movie's tracklists:
Shrek 1

1. Stay Home - Self
2. I'm A Believer - Smash Mouth
3. Like Wow! - Leslie Carter
4. It Is You (I Have Loved) - Dana Glover

6. Bad Reputation - Halfcocked
7. My Beloved Monster - Eels
8. You Belong To Me - Jason Wade
9. All Star - Smash Mouth
10. Hallelujah - John Cale
11. I'm On My Way - The Proclaimers
12. I'm A Believer (Reprise) - Eddie Murphy
13. True Love's First Kiss - John Powell

Shrek 2

1. Accidentally In Love - Counting Crows
2. Holding Out For A Hero - Frou Frou
3. Changes - Butterfly Boucher
4. As Lovers Go (Ron Fair Remix) - Dashboard Confessional
5. Funkytown - Lipps, Inc.
6. I'm On My Way - Rich Price
7. I Need Some Sleep - Eels
8. Ever Fallen In Love - Pete Yorn
9. Little Drop Of Poison - Tom Waits
10. You're So True - Joseph Arthur
11. People Ain't No Good - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

While checking all things Shrek I see they are planning for Shrek 4!
"Knowledge is not a series of self-consistent theories that converges toward an ideal view; it is rather an ever increasing ocean of mutually incompatible (and perhaps even incommensurable) alternatives, each single theory, each fairy tale, each myth that is part of the collection forcing the others into greater articulation and all of them contributing, via this process of competition, to the development of our consciousness." Paul Feyerabend

Lagging blogging

Yeah I know I am lagging behind but blogging is playing second fiddle to Life As We Know It... (a Blog title in there somewhere!)
My previous blog mentioned a playlist that went down well at yesterday's MX race... and it brought us rain as well, fortunately it was not a Noachian Deluge and we could finish the races although we snipped about 8 minutes off each moto for the the last set of heats and then the heavens opened again... prize giving was a very intimate affair for those hardy souls that stayed for their share of the booty. We all squeezed into the clubhouse stoop and Anton's gazebo.
[Reserved for pics!]
As soon as our intrepid Chief Scorer Thea remembers I may post some pics... yours truly was too busy as COC to take much in the way of photos... although I do wish we had some of the Crash of Note, executed by Estefan, who had no clue where he was for a while! I never knew a human body could do such contortions and bounce like that without breaking bones... Those Angels need serious overtime pay.
Now I know today's quote has little to do with Motocross crashes but at least it has "crash" and "bumpy" in it... so maybe there is a connection? in any case I loved Northern Exposure... wish it was on TV again.
"Most of you have been where I am tonight. The crash site of unrequited love. You ask yourself, How did I get here? What was it about? Was it her smile? Was it the way she crossed her legs, the turn of her ankle, the poignant vulnerability of her slender wrists? What are these elusive and ephemeral things that ignite passion in the human heart? That's an age-old question. It's perfect food for thought on a bright midsummer's night."
Martin Sage and Sybil Adelman, Northern Exposure, The Bumpy Road to Love, 1991

WOW I have hit the Googlejackpot

with my wacky blog Megalicious Mayhem, it is ranked first!
Speaking of mayhem, what a week this has been, murder at the CWC, Maputo blowing up and the rest of the world pretty well going to pot at a rate of knots mon...
I think I will sit back and compile a list of songs to soothe the soul... while busy I listened to Nelly Furtado's new CD and this Porra Chick can sing dude! She always had a good voice but she has now matured from her earlier songs... so I decided to call the compilation "All Good Things" based on one of the songs on the CD, plus here are the lyrics to the title track:
All Good Things (come to an end)
Honestly what will become of me
don't like reality
It's way too clear to me
But really life is daily
We are what we don't see
Missed everything daydreaming

[Chorus]
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Traveling I only stop at exits
Wondering if I'll stay
Young and restless
Living this way I stress less
I want to pull away when the dream dies
The pain sets in and I don't cry
I only feel gravity and I wonder why

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
[ these lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com ]
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Die die die die die

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were barking at a new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
And the sun was wondering if it should stay away for a day til the feeling went away
And the sky was falling on the clouds were dropping and
the rain forgot how to bring salvation
the dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon so that they could die.
And once again the The Screaming Tangerines present the latest megaclicious collection All Good Things:
A collection of some of those songs that remind me mostly of good (and some bad) things...

I should be so lucky

You'll die from a Heart Attack during Sex.

Your a lover not a fighter but sadly, in the act of making love your heart will stop. But what a way to go.

'How will you die?' at QuizGalaxy.com

Speaking of luck, I have been invited to guest blog at Keeskennis the blogger from Zambia, Kees you give me a great honour bud, I will now spend the rest of my weekend pondering what to contribute! This is the Vic Fall's that form part of the border between Zambia and Mad Bob's Paradise aka Zimbabwe. I hope to see the falls one day before my aforementioned demise! On the subject of demise and all that here is a brilliant song from Rammstein and the title song for this weeks compilation from the Screaming Tangerines...
Stirb nicht vor mir - Don't die before me
Die Nacht öffnet ihren Schoß
Das Kind heißt Einsamkeit
Es ist kalt und regungslos
Ich weine leise in die Zeit
Ich weiß nicht wie du heißt
Doch ich weiß dass es dich gibt
Ich weiß dass irgendwann
irgendwer mich liebt

He comes to me every night
No words are left to say
With his hands around my neck
I close my eyes and pass away

I don't know who he is
In my dreams he does exist
His passion is a kiss
And I can not resist

Ich warte hier
Don't die before I do
Ich warte hier
Stirb nicht vor mir

I don't know who you are
I know that you exist
Stirb nicht
Sometimes love seems so far
Ich warte hier
Your love I can't dismiss
Ich warte hier

Alle Häuser sind verschneit
Und in den Fenstern Kerzenlicht
Dort liegen sie zu zweit
Und ich
Ich warte nur auf dich

Ich warte hier
Don't die before I do
Ich warte hier
Stirb nicht vor mir

I don't know who you are
I know that you exist
Stirb nicht
Sometimes love seems so far
Ich warte hier
Your love I can't dismiss

Stirb nicht vor mir

How many times

Tonight I was listening to my music and let Winamp have it's way with me... eventually I had to backtrack and compile a playlist of what it had given me, first up was Kate Ryan, Eurosong 2006 entrant and How Many Times, sometimes I am amazed how this bit of software can read my mood... but change it as well! Music tames the restless heart. Here are the lyrics...
How many times - Kate Ryan

How many times
How many times
How many times
Is enough?
Uuhh...

How many times do I have to rise

and fall?
How many times?
How many times hit my head against

the wall?

I'm breaking the border of myself,
It's time that I learned from
The mistakes that has made
This never ending circle
Of just heartaches.

Now is the time,
To get it together and shine
Try to figure out of
Who I am, and what I want.

How many times do I have to rise

and fall?
Once again defeated,
How many times hit my head against

the wall?
'Till I find the secret,
So many nights that
I cried a thousand tears
For the one who turned out
Not to be the one
How many times is enough?

So I'm alone here once again,
Now I can hardly feel the pain,
Anymore, I'm broken,
But not scattered into pieces.

This life is mine,
Just have to stand up and fight,
Try to figure out of
Who I am, and what I want.

How many times do I have to rise

and fall?
Once again defeated,
How many times hit my head against

the wall?
'Till I find the secret,
So many nights that
I cried a thousand tears
For the one who turned out
Not to be the one
How many times is enough?

How many times is enough?
Oouuh...
How many times
How many times
How many times
Is enough?
How many times
How many times
How many times
Is enough?

How many times do I have to rise

and fall?
Once again defeated,
How many times hit my head against

the wall?
'Till I find the secret,
So many nights that
I cried a thousand tears
For the one who turned out
Not to be the one
How many times is enough?

How many times is enough?

Another Eurovision contestant was Nicki French, I love her version of Total Eclipse of the Heart a song made famous by Bonnie Tyler who is a three days and a year older than I am! She sure does not look that old! Gemini's Rule!

Eros Ramazzotti always seems to be able to lift my spirits along with Andain (who are working on a new album!) and the rest of the euphoric Trance music featured on the list... Something else about Andain... one of the members, David Penner is a Rocket Scientist! "Like Mavie and Josh, music is his first love, although he has his undergraduate degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)." Awesome!
Summing up my thoughs... Today has been one of those rollercoaster days...
"A motion to adjourn is always in order." Robert Heinlein (1907 - 1988), Lazarus Long: Time Enough For Love

Time to get the brat with wings...

in the sights of my Barrett .50 sniper rifle.

Once again we are being bombarded with Valentines Day adverts... this is my uptake on the whole Commercial Cupidian Conspiracy. I need some depleted Uranium ammo, a good fire position and that will be the end of this critter... time to get me some cherubic wings... I hear they are quite crunchy dipped in chilli sauce.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in love, just not the type inflicted by my Nemesis with wings! Been there, done that! So Mr Cupid you are hereby warned, you are fair game and in my sights.
So to celebrate the stupid season I decided to put together another Screaming Tangerines playlist with a twist in the arrow... but damn... ambushed again... while compiling the list I was listening to "I'll Surrender" by Calienda, vocals by Linn aka Linda Bredschneyder and I think I have an arrow in my heart! The angelic voice of Linda got to me... ah well next year.. this is a pic from the website. Can you blame me?

Windows to the soul

The prettiest eyes on the planet... I can't wait for her new movie Resident Evil: Extinction, to be released later this year in September.

When I saw Milla in 5th Element I was struck, nay smitten, by her eyes. As previously mentioned, for me eyes are my Nemesis...
I think that having someone so cute looking playing such a kick ass heroine is the recipe for success for Resident Evil... So while busy re-categorizing my music collection I made a list of eye songs for The Screaming Tangerines, here goes;

Windows to the soul:
45 tracks in playlist, average track length: 3:48 Playlist length: 2 hours 51 minutes 42 seconds

"The face is the mirror of the mind, and eyes without speaking confess the secrets of the heart." Saint Jerome (374 AD - 419 AD)

What are your resolutions?

Well I believe there's someone watching over you
They're watching every single thing you say
And when you die they'll set you down and take you through
You'll realise one day that

The grass is always greener on the other side
The neighbours got a new car that you wanna drive
And when time is running out you wanna stay alive
We all live under the same sky
We all will live we all will die
There is no wrong
There is no right
The circle only has one side

We all try hard to live our lives in harmony
For fear of falling swiftly overboard
But life is both a major and a minor key
Just open up the chord

But the grass is always greener on the other side
The neighbours got a new car that you wanna drive
And when time is running out you wanna stay alive

We all live under the same sky
We all will live
We all will die
There is no wrong
There is no right
The circle only has one side
Well I believe there's someone watching over you
They're watching every single thing you say
And when you die they'll set you down and take you through
You'll realise one day that

The grass is always greener on the other side
The neighbours got a new car that you wanna drive
And when time is running out you wanna stay alive
We all live under the same sky
We all will live we all will die
There is no wrong
There is no right
The circle only has one side

We all try hard to live our lives in harmony
For fear of falling swiftly overboard
But life is both a major and a minor key
Just open up the chord

But the grass is always greener on the other side
The neighbours got a new car that you wanna drive
And when time is running out you wanna stay alive

We all live under the same sky
We all will live
We all will die
There is no wrong
There is no right
The circle only has one side

A beautiful song Side by Travis but with a single flaw, there is wrong and right and this coming year I my wish is to be able to see this and not keep silent when wrong prevails. Another song that has good resolutions is Animal Song by Savage Garden...

Superstars and cannonballs running through your head
Television freak show cops and robbers everywhere
Animals and children tell the truth, they never lie
Which one is more human
There's a thought, now you decide

So all this made me come up with my latest playlist for the Screaming Tangerines called Resolution & Revolution;

1. Travis - Side (4:01)
2. Avril Lavigne - Anything but the ordinary (4:11)

Hard Rock Carols by the Screaming Tangerines

Today's Rockwood made me laugh, this is the crazy time of the year when all sorts of artists bring out "Christmas" albums... some should just plain forget about the idea.
For one thing their style just does not suit the genre or in some cases the voice is a total mismatch and in other cases the image of Kid Rock singing Silent Night is just so wrong!
However I thought I may as well put up the playlist for my imaginary band the The Screaming Tangerines latest album Hard Rock Carols;
1. Dido - Christmas Day (2:14)
2. George Michael - Jesus to a child (6:50)
3. Deep Purple - Child In Time (4:06)

8. The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) (3:26)

25. Queen - Thank God It's Christmas (4:19)
Wierd I know... but this is Whacky Wednesday! that is borrowed from the Steers Burger ad so let me end with a food related quote...
Dear Lord, I've been asked, nay commanded, to thank Thee for the Christmas turkey before us... a turkey which was no doubt a lively, intelligent bird... a social being... capable of actual affection... nuzzling its young with almost human- like compassion. Anyway, it's dead and we're gonna eat it. Please give our respects to its family..." Berke Breathed, Bloom County Babylon

Nick Kamen - I promised myself

I promised myself
I promised I'd wait for you
The midnight hour
I know you'll shine on through

I promised myself
I promised the world to you
I gave you flowers
You made my dreams come true

How many of us out there
Feel the need to run
and look for shelter

I promised myself
That I'd say a prayer for you
A brand new tomorrow
Where all you wish comes true

I promised myself
That I'd make it up to you
My sister and brother
Know I'm in love with you

How many of us out there
Feel the pain of losing
what was once there
God I know what people
say about her
No mistake who can live
without love

In the midnight hour
I will wait for you
I will wait for you
I will wait for you
