Is Afrikaans dead?

Is Afrikaans dead? "Cape Town - A communication strategist from Johannesburg has angered Afrikaans-speakers by saying that the language should be taken off the ventilator and it should not be allowed to be kept on life support."

What an idiot! Ask any shopkeeper in Namibia what the people speak?
In any case I do not know what he means by "life support", the language is doing fine and not being supported by Goverment money if that is what he means. No need to as far as I can see/hear as well.

We may have 11 languages in this country but the lingua franca is afrikaans as it is in Namibia... must be some reason for that? Just another example of a myopic journalist as I can see... more on that subject later. What I can surmise is that Clive is a Finance journalist guru type person... and yes if you wanna do business in the big leagues in Seffrika it is done in English, period! Usually in an Afrikaans accent!
