How to spot an Angel

Easy peasy... be one! It was a pleasure helping you Donna... I'm pinching that picture by the way...
Seriously, one has to be in Angel mode to spot another Angel.
What is Angel mode you ask?
It is when you let yourself be open to help others and see life in a positive way.
When you have this attitude you see them everywhere... like the girl that helped me today at our new mall... as I took my last step off the steps from the parking I had this skid on my crutches... corrected and fortunately my brakes worked! Almost went down all akimbo... I had this fleeting glimpse of me ending up back in ER with multiple fractures... shades of Friday the seventeenth!
Gingerly I made my way to the table where the mall guides were seated, helping people with directions etc.
One of the girls took one look at my face and crutches and said "Take a seat while I organise a wheelchair... the floors are super slippery and we don't want you breaking more bones."
Talk about mind reading capabilities!

As I went to buy me some shorts I found out I can still do a mean wheelchair wheelie... Later when M and his girlfriend arrived I outpaced them on every floor we explored, had a lot of fun and exercise at the same time.
Here is a song from ABBA that sums up my view on the matter...
I have a dream - aka I believe in Angels
I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream
I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream

Man I wish they had never split up... but I digress...

There are a whole host of other Angels in my life, my kids, my family and my friends, each and every one is an Angel in some way or another. I also have my very special Angel friend KatieB, she always brightens up my day in some way or another... thank you for that. I just hope that I can be an Angel for her as well, it often pains me to see how busy she is at work and also being a single mom life is quite hectic. I am there for you and think you are doing a splendid job.

Before I go completely soppy let me just say, keep your eyes open... that may be an Angel in the car ahead of you in the 5pm traffic... you never know unless you learn to look.

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Bible, Hebrews xiii. 2.

Heads up

I have the framework for a rather long posting mulling in my head at present so bear with me as I whittle away at the thing. In the meantime I am doing my physio exercises and slowly getting back to doing a chore or two. My kids are so patient with me! M however bought pizza tonight... I guess he is tired of slaving in the kitchen... he has always liked cooking but I guess enough is enough. I was going to do a Flaming Pink playlist by using FoxyTunes and my collection but alas the PC crashed... next time maybe. KatieB texed me that she sent me a G-mail... still waiting for it to land in my inbox and of course I am dying of curiosity as to what it is, seems like a mail server somewhere is choking and not sending it through. Just my luck.
Firehand was quite impressed with my comments on his blog recently and tells a similar fishing tale as my C4 version. I enjoy his blog a lot as he delves into blacksmithing and guns and a lot in between, maybe when I do that T2T trip we will have a chance to have some cold ones together and share more stories.
To Donna, it is always a pleasure helping someone with their blog, or anything else for that matter, that is what gained knowledge is there for, to be shared. I always get a kick helping people these days, when I was younger I tended to keep these things to myself... thank goodness I have mellowed.

But I am still young at heart... my latest music find is also a favourite of my daughter, I think 30 Seconds To Mars rocks! She loves the lead singer... I love the music and lyrics. Here is one of their songs... enjoy.

Sorry Sony

but the more you guys do this the less confidence we as consumers will have in your products...

"Sony's MicroVault USB memory stick and fingerprint reader includes software that creates a hidden directory on the computer's hard drive, researchers with Finnish security software maker F-Secure Corp reported on the company's blog on Monday.
Such software that hides itself, which is known as a root kit, leaves room for hackers to secretly infect personal computers, they said."

Spring in my step

Well not quite springs but let me introduce you to my latest hardware... no not the geek gadget kind but...
My Titanium plate and other hardware, now I know why my leg is sore when it is cold...
Another angle on the hardware, "roofing screws" come to mind.
The tag, in case I got lost in hospital...
Talking of Spring... once again the Prunus outside the flat is putting up a magnificent show of Blazing Pink (mmm tracklist title methinks).
Yeah, that time of year again. I recall a similar view last year although a week earlier it seems, must be the colder winter we had this year.
Getting the fields of play ready for a new season... saw this as I was picking the best shot of the Prunus, I love 5 mega pixels! The grass is being scarified and I bet they are going to water it tomorrow as well, I will try to get same pics of the birds that usually forage for the seeds after this is done. The walk will be good exercise.
A lot has happened since last year, amazingly mostly very good stuff! I am truly blessed when I look back.
This bunch of Prunus picked by KatieB's daughter yesterday when they popped in to see me has brightened up our world, thanks B!
I got some more work stuff done today and was listening to my music as usual and then I sort of paused when this one came up...
One of my favourite 80's song, an amazing voice and lyrics I live by...

[via FoxyTunes / Rick Astley] Never gonna give you up.

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

give you up. give you up
give you up, give you up
never gonna give
never gonna give, give you up
never gonna give
never gonna give, five you up

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Well after that and some more work this one played... I had never given it much thought before but once again it had me thinking...

[via FoxyTunes / Evan and Jaron] - Crazy For This Girl

She rolls the window down
And she
Talks over the sound
Of the cars that pass us by
And I dont know why
But shes changed my mind

Chorus:
Would you look at her
She looks at me
Shes got me thinking about her constantly
But she dont know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if shes figured out
Im crazy for this girl

She was the one to hold me
The night
The sky fell down
And what was I thinking when
The world didnt end
Why didnt I know what I know now

Chorus

Right now
Face to face
All my fears
Pushed aside
And right now
Im ready to spend the rest of my life
With you

Chorus 2x

So there I go with a picture of someone in my mind and songs in my head...

What happened on yours?

I do not usually take part in these meme things but this one over on Jock's place made me want to give it a bash. So here is mine for June 11...
Three Events That Occurred on My Birthday
1184 BC - Trojan War: Troy was sacked and burned, according to the calculations of Eratosthenes.
That is something I did not know! WOW
1776 - Continental Congress appoints Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston to a committee to draft a declaration of independence.
Cool!
1935 - Inventor Edwin Armstrong gives the first public demonstration of FM broadcasting in the United States, at Alpine, New Jersey.
And that was the start of the POP era and the springboard for music as we have it today as far as I am concerned.
Two People Who Share My Birthday
1910 - Jacques-Yves Cousteau, French explorer and inventor (d. 1997)
Cool!
1939 - Jackie Stewart, Scottish race car driver.
Never knew that my all time F1 hero was born on my birthday!
One Holiday Celebrated on My Birthday
Kamehameha Day, official state holiday of Hawaii, United States, in honor of its first monarch, celebrated with floral parades, hula competition, and festivals.
Always liked Hawaii...

Sorry but that is all I have for today... I quess the quote sums it up...

è finito

I finished the book, Leonardo was a fascinating person but also very human.

His inventions like this parachute were way before the time and technology. What struck me was the way he sorted out his affairs before he died, not many people get to do this as I was reminded so rudely last week. His biggest regret seemed to be that there were still so many things to discover and that he had been tardy in his pursuit of knowledge. I think most of us can feel this way in today's hectic world, that is why each day should be dealt with on it's own.

I believe we should give thanks for the day that is done when we lay our head down to sleep, thanks for the things done and accomplished, thanks for another adventure, thanks for another day we could be our best.
Tomorrow is something to be tackled on it's own and for this we should give thanks when we wake up tomorrow as we face the adventure of another day on this spinning blue dot.
As a Nadia Ali fan I will end this with the words from one of IIO's songs called At the End... Their dance music makes me feel alive when I listen to it and the lyrics make me think.
At The End - Nadia Ali
When you're away, I'm feeling empty
I lose my mind
But when you're around, I take for granted
Most of our time

Honey you say that I'm cold
And sometimes I'm out of control
Baby, you know how I am, at the end, you're always mine

I don't mean to when I hurt you
But I need you, I can show you
Just let me be when I'm crazy,
At the end you're still my only.
At the end [x3]

Right when you're gone, I really miss you
You got my heart.
When you come back, I just wanna kiss you
And it tears you apart.
Honey do make me stay,
Believe me it's better this way.
Baby I'm true and I'm real.
I'm giving you all that I feel.

[Chorus x2]

Sweety, I'm trying my best,
To give you the most and the less.
Darling, I'm true and I'm real,
I'm giving you all that I feel.

[Chorus x2]

The secret is revealed

No not That Secret

... the secret of the origin of blogging that is...

HT to
AD who found it on Mostly Cajun. It sure looks familiar.
I have been good an kept my foot/leg/half dead feeling appendage elevated all day, now if the feeling would just get back I may sort of feel in one piece again. It is funny having an out of body experience with only one appendage... gives new meaning to the word "missing parts".
Another secret that was revealed today was while I was reading a blog discussion on the use of the death sentence, one commenter then dragged in the issue of abortion. My feelings in the matter is that capital punishment is not an archaic punishment and should be exercised by the State in cases of violent crime, but things got nasty when some said that we only become alive when born... I feel it is at conception and as such feel abortion is murder, then I read this;
"The Lord called me before my birth. From within the womb he called me by my name...He said to me, `You are my servant'..." (Isaiah 49:1,3 TLB) and "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb" (Psalm 139:13).
That is something I had never considered, God knew me before I was even born, that is so awesome! let that thought carry us through this week. It also confirmed that I am right concerning abortion...

Shrinking foot

I had to tighten op my brace today, it was almost falling off when I moved about and did my exercises, I sure am glad that the swelling is going down, my meds run out tomorrow then I go "cold turkey" but I think that will be survivable. The nerve blocker is also having weird effects... but I will leave the description thereof, this is a family blog! Although I can relate to some other bloggers that have described various medical ailments and procedures... and the effects. Felling parts missing but knowing they are there is rather weird...
I also hope KatieB survives the Melodrama... drinking plenty of water does help... She has more guts than I have, that event is a serious assault on the liver... last one I attended I think I broke ten chairs from jumping up and down with laughter, or was it from dancing on them... cannot really recall what... I just know I was broke for three months after and had the mother of all hangovers the next day. I must say the ladies were never mad at us spending all that money bidding for the Indian to come and encore his act... They had these cheshire cat smiles for a week.
Talking of cheshire cat's, seems like one of my favourite bloggers has had the rug swept out from under him, Ambulance Driver and Babs are an item, I am so happy for them, good stuff happens to good people.
M's team had a 0-15 loss to the Sharkies... but all the other teams won so as far as sport goes a fine day was had by all, I hope the Off Road in Rouxville went well, I am really sad that I had to miss that but I would not have been a good Steward if I had gone, sleeping on the job is not part of the procedure. Hopefully as the meds wear off I will become more alert... at present I am lucid one moment and snoring the next, much to the cats delight...

Bruised muse

I think I fell on my muse... I have a case of blogblock. KatieB and B are off to Queenstown for the weekend and I have a book to read. I will post the picture she took of me on B's Birthday as I was about to don my armour. Do I always look so mischievous?

I am itching to ride again but that will probably have to wait for at least a month, enough time to get Shrek back in shape and serviced.
Well they got there safely and I can go to sleep now...

Kipped

Not much happened while I slept I hope?
Hopefully I can get back to reading Leonardo Da Vinci's bio tomorrow.

I am soooooo busted

Today has been one of the most amazing days... I will also be shot by my doctor if he hears about it too.
Last week part of my system went missing and we found that no one had taken into account that my system's cables also ran through the new computer lab site... so when this happened we we quickly applied Occam's razor and had new cable ordered and arranged for installation asap... but in the meantime I went and had my skid.
So this morning the techie phones and asked me where the cable must be put in... I ended up on site and together we sorted out the new installation. I thought it would be a quick hour at the most then I could be back home again.
In the meantime my assistant came down with a bad case of flu with side effects of gastritis... not good, so a lady who has no idea of how our two jobs are done gets thrown into the pool.
I just could not leave her to the tender mercy of the sharks and spent the better part of the morning till way past lunch giving her a crash course to hold the fort until my assistant gets back. As I have been booked off till the end of September myself it is going to be interesting to see how things work out... maybe my request for more staff will be considered this time?
As I was explaining the last few details to her who walks in but KatieB... With a smile and a "And just what are you doing here?" look, I was busted... at least she took me home and gave me a wonderful foot rub and the keys to her castle as we browsed the blogs we like together. Thanks again for being my best friend, I really enjoy your company as well, nay, sometimes I crave it. We never seem to exhaust the variety of topics but sometimes just being together not saying anything is like a symphony.
I believe having someone that you can talk and listen to without fear is one of the most amazing gifts one can have in life and should be cherished both in good times and in bad. We sure are having our fair share of variety at present.

Smile... your friends may see you

Boy, am I glad I followed Terry Pratchett's advice "Always wear completely clean underwear every day because you never know when you're going to be knocked down and killed by a runaway horse and if people found you had unsatisfactory underwear on, you'd die of shame." I had clean underwear on as I lay groaning under my bike as at least two familiar faces drove past... and promptly spread the word of my misfortune...
As KatieB has so kindly posted I was involved in a road accident last Friday afternoon around 16h40. It sounds much worse than what really happened, had a slight skid, caused by diesel I suspect, corrected the slide, braked some more and then ran out of road and basically fell off the bike when the curb twisted the front wheel as the bike stopped, momentum and the weight of the bike did the rest. Damage to the bike is similar to a fall from standstill, damage to me is now fixed with five screws and a plate. Once again I proved that wearing good protective gear is essential, now if I had only bought those knee guards!
To those Samaritans that helped me by first getting the bike off me, then taking me and the bike home I just want to say thanks... I will pass it forward one day. We often hear how cynical and jaded people seem to be nowadays but ever since I started looking at life in a positive way I keep having amazing people cross my path, not always in pleasant circumstances but always proving to me that there are still many hidden Angels amongst us.
I have also received so may get well soon wishes that based on that alone I will be walking in a week! Personally I believe that recovery from any surgery or accident is 30% gritting teeth and sweat followed by 70% attitude. A big plus is having a good support team, in my case I have an amazing one headed by the best in the business, I mean He has been looking after me since before I was even born! Then there are my friends and family, you guys are great. Especially my kids, stepping up to the plate and looking after Dad for a change and doing it with a smile, then there is KatieB... an Angel disguised as best friend...

Funny how today's Rockwood cartoon is relative to my recent accident as well, there is a Screaming Tangerine playlist hidden in the "MetaMucil presents - 2007 Hip Replacement tour" part... maybe some time later this week. I have a lot of time on my hands...
Oh I think I know who was behind my accident, found it as I was looking for a quote on skids...
"1. At the rise of the hand of the policeman, stop rapidly. Do not pass him or otherwise disrespect him.
2. If pedestrian obstacle your path, tootle horn melodiously. If he continue to obstacle, tootle horn vigorously and utter vocal warning such as "Hi, Hi."[...]
5. Beware of greasy corner where lurk skid demon. Cease step on, approach slowly, round cautiously, resume step on gradually." from an official Japanese guide for English-speaking drivers, 1936

Back after the break..

The author of Ramblings from a Blue Dot, my friend rObC had a motorcycle accident on Friday, 17 August. He was admitted to hospital and his knee was operated on saturday. He was discharged this morning and is at home. He can tell you all the gory details himself, as soon as he gets behind his PC - I am just relieved to say: rObC - I'm glad you are OK, please take it slowly and get better soon. Love KatieB

Who let the dogs out

Well I sounds like that here... I have been barking like one since early this morning... and someone ran over me with a 18 wheeler while I was sleeping! Usually a cold or the flu starts with sniffles or a sore throat... this one came from inside and seems to be working it's way out... is it Alien Flu or what? Thank goodness for Halls and MedLemon. Now if I can just survive the next 2 weeks or a fortnight, either way that is how long these bugs take to get eradicated from one's system usually.
I will back up the medication with plenty of salad, fluids and wholesome food.

From dogs to Wild Hogs, the movie is now out on the DVD circuit and we watched it tonight... as a biker I could relate 100%. Now my chest hurts from laughing and coughing!
Slapping the bull looks like a lot of fun too, I must put it on my
To Do list... under Insane Ideas... together with Horizontal Bungee... I can also relate to Dudley... not the crashes he has though... he at least gets the girl in the end!

As to the soundtrack, the song that lingers most is Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys. Most of the Biker Classics are featured as well. I am still looking for a complete list though.
M has had some misfortune this morning as well, on the way into town he got rear ended and the Golf got dinged,
I am glad they did not get hurt though, the guilty party has already exchanged insurance details so this will get sorted... but being inconvenienced to get the car fixed is always a drag.
So as head for bed and a day officiating at the Osram Rally tomorrow I have this in my head... Woof Woof!

On the wings of a nightingale

I have to do a presentation tomorrow, the rough draft is done but this week has been Monday version I, II and III... I just have not had the time to put more body to it, so tomorrow I wing it. Wish me luck.
Reminds me of this song from Nightwish, I found this excellent mix of the song, I just wish I could have put up the original as the vocals are stunning.

[via FoxyTunes / Nightwish]

Know why the Nightingale Sings

What does the free fall feel like?
Asks the boy with a spark in his eye
Know why the nightingale sings
Is the answer to everything

Taking a step to the world unbound
Spinning my fantasies all around
Freed from the gravital leash
I swear the heaven's in my reach

Dancing with the spirit of the air
In this ocean so so open and fair
Making love to the gods above
On my maiden voyage so bold

Landing safely to the blue lagoon
Don't know if this is the earth or the moon
Joy of living is no more a mask
The Eden I found will forever last

Migrating with the geese
My soul has finally found peace
Doesn't matter that man has no wings
As long as I hear the nightingale sing...

I had a home alone evening but decided to take a ride in the crisp night and after getting back from the ride I feel like the lyrics say "As long as I hear the nightingale sing" life is worth living. Tomorrow will be an adventure all it's own. Speaking of I am thinking of attending my first Biker rally in 20 odd years... the Rhino is on the 26th October and in the best part of the Free State for biking, Harrismith is close to Clarens/Golden Gate, possibly the closest to the twisties of the Cape that we have. It should be fun. Anyone want to pillion?

Ugg the caveman thinks

he cannot hunt Mammoths because they can read his mind... then again it may be because he is of the Mammoth Clan?
I seem to have cast a puzzle earlier today by using Ugg and his hunting skills, or lack thereof... so I will have to explain in detail I suppose.
Being a Gemini I am a multidimensional person... or as normal mortals say, "Slightly daft, with split personalities." one of them is my caveman side that emerges when things puzzle and confuse me, then like a caveman I go hunting. By hunting I mean introspection and doing things I like that help me make sense of things.
Anyone that has been reading my blogs will sense that I have had a crush on someone and have been in mope mode ever since because the object of affection is not on the same wavelength...
However, before I do the Tsunami thing let me explain that I have realized why I feel so rejected and also know that I have no reason to feel this way. I did this to myself after all!
Experiencing a crush is a physiological and psychological thing and I have been able to understand the why and how of this whole Cupid induced madness and get over it and get back to just the wonderful friendship.
The rejection however is due to something I had not dealt with, I went and looked at my life since 2000 and I found that I had never faced up to why I always seem to be so crushed when any relationship seems to be going no where. An after effect of going through a divorce I would imagine...
I even went so far as to type up a posting especially after TUT sent me a rather cryptic message that seemed to confirm how I was feeling... I am putting it here just to be able to analyse it from a distance so to speak. The TUT message is in Italics by the way...
I titled it: Ummm yeah... talking in my sleep...
"Do you realize that you have never heard anything, from anyone, that you did not want to hear? Pretty tricky of you." Mmm... that is a hidden meaning if ever... but I hear it loud and clear and bow down before You in humility and wonder at your Infinite Wisdom, meanwhile tears stream down my cheeks as I realise I am lost once again... Would it be too much to ask to grant my wish?
No it is more than a wish, it is my life, my desire, my being, poured out like blood...
Must I chisel it out on tablets of stone?
Must I do penance forever for something I do not know I have done?
Answer me... this pain is too much to bear.
How is it that one can love so much that it causes pain, so much that it makes another person afraid?
This impotence, this inability to break down walls is wearing me down.
If this is how it ends I never want to love again.
I would sacrifice all I am to be the one...But then I would have lost a friend and I realise that that would be the greatest tragedy. So release me from this prison, let me be free, let my emotions fade away, let my eyes stop being hungry, let my heart be calm. This I beg of Thee.

So there... that was yesterday... now I look back and laugh and I am so glad I never posted it when I did, it would have been taken in the wrong context and most probably blown up in my face.
I was feeling that way because I was misreading everything, only hearing what I wanted to and not stopping to think that I am not being rejected as a friend or even physically but because this brought back feelings from the past I reacted as if I was not acceptable company any more... a pain so intense that eats away at reason. After doing some reading I found this that helped me realise what I have had so long...
Rejection sensitivity
Individuals differ widely in their level of rejection sensitivity. According to Geraldine Downey and her colleagues at Columbia University, rejection sensitivity is a tendency to anxiously expect, readily perceive, and over-react to social rejection.
[7] For those who have a high level of rejection sensitivity, an ambiguous social interaction may be perceived as rejection. This can lead to self-fulfilling prophecies.
Individual differences in rejection sensitivity are believed to be the result of previous rejection experiences, particularly childhood experiences with parents and peers. This is consistent with
attachment theory, but so far, there is little empirical evidence of the early causes of rejection sensitivity
Since then things have come into focus and I have rejected rejection and accepted the hand of friendship and looked at those words again. I will be listening more from now on that's for sure.
As I seem to still be in a juvenile stage of life I find the following very apt to today's subject in my diary;

[via FoxyTunes / The Ataris]

Here in this diary I write you visions of my summer
It was the best I ever had
There were choruses and sing alongs
And that unspoken feeling of knowing
That right now is all that matters

All the nights we stayed up talking
Listening to 80's songs
And quoting lines from all those movies that we love
It still brings a smile to my face

I guess when it comes down to it
Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up
These are the best days of our lives
The only thing that matters is just following your heart
And eventually you'll finally get it right

Breaking into hotel swimming pools
And wreaking havoc on our world
Hanging out at truck stops
Just to pass the time
The blacktop singing me to sleep

Lighting fireworks in parking lots
Illuminate the blackest nights
Cherry cokes under this moonlit summer sky
2015 Riverside, it's time to say goodbye

Get on the bus, it's time to go

Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up
These are the best days of our lives
The only thing that matters is just following your heart
And eventually you'll finally get it right

(Get it right)

Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up
These are the best days of our lives
The only thing that matters is just following your heart
And eventually you'll finally get it right

I really think that I am starting to get it right, it just took a long time for me to grow up I suppose, I have always felt 18 years old in any case... Oh the Guinea Fowl bit?
That was just me thinking of another animal and it's atributes. They are tough critters by the way and always go about their business in a jovial gregarious sort of way, when I see them on campus they always seem to be having fun along with their day to day foraging. I think we should be like them as well... Nice to see somone is back to blogging as well with a stunning photo and a theme to think over as well... It certainly helped me put things in perspective...

Fine day...

Kirsty Hawkshaw - Fine Day (Mike Koglin Mix 2002)

[via FoxyTunes / Kirsty Hawkshaw]

it's a fine day,
people open windows.
they leave the houses,
just for a short while.

it's a fine day,
people open windows.
they leave the houses,
just for a short while.

it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow

it's a fine day,
people open windows.
they leave the houses,
just for a short while.

they walk by the grass
they look at the sky
they walk by the grass
and they look at the grass
they look at the sky

it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow

look at the sky
look at the sky
look at the sky
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine day tomorrow
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine night tonight
it's going to be a fine night tonight

What can I add...

I stand in awe when I see the works of Thy hands.

Our Father Which Art in Heaven,” “Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, For Ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9,13, KJV
When I saw this picture on The Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth I just had to put it up and use it as the theme for today, I am today putting in electronic format the thanks I have been expressing to God for my recent holiday and all that went before and after it. The wonderful people I met that helped me in one way or another, the people that let me into their lives in some way or another and the wonders He let me experience, it was a life changing experience in so many ways. His gift to me has been that I will never again doubt that anything cannot be done and that we should always face a challenge, with Him on our side who can be against us.
Since getting back quite a few challenges have been put in my path but I believe that they will be overcome in a miraculous way, not that the physical means have not been provided either, that already has been amazing.

My ideas for an Adventuring Company will become reality, that I am sure of as well, the books I have come across since I started thinking of this have been both inspirational and an affirmation that I am not crazy.

I have also had this thought that whatever form the Adventure idea takes will have to include a way of uplifting the people we come across in the process, whether it be just being a witness to their lives or influencing them to aspire to achieve their dreams as we are. That would be the real reward.

Pray - Tina Cousins

What a miracle is life
the fields are high and fruit is ripe
so hold out your hands
yeah, hold out your hands

And you're the same as me
you breathe the air I breathe
and we don't understand
yeah, we don't understand

And if you don't ask questions
you won't know why
so say a prayer for the dying
while there's still time. So

Pray for good and pray for love
Pray for peace and pray it's enough
pray for salvation, pray that we're right
pray for one day we open our eyes
And pray for them and pray for us
pray one day we can live as one
pray for the children whose time is to come
And pray they forgive us for the stupid things we've done

We all see the same sun
each day a golden praise is sung
to the wonder of man
yeah, the wonder of man
And when we look why can't we see
all the riches that are free
oh we don't understand
yeah, we don't understand

And if you don't ask questions
you won't know why
so say a prayer for the dying
while there's still time. So

Pray for good and pray for love
Pray for peace and pray it's enough
pray for salvation, pray that we're right
pray for one day we open our eyes
And pray for them and pray for us
pray one day we can live as one
pray for the children whose time is to come
And pray they forgive us for the stupid things we've done

The song sums up my feelings remarkably, I may have put the lyrics up before but they just fit with the theme... Video insertion thanks to my newest toy on Firefox called FoxyTunes a "remote" for your browser that controls your media player, Winamp in my case... it is absolutely awesome. While listening to a song you can search for everything related to the song, I mean everything! It is also available for IE... if you have to that is... Isn't Technology wonderful? Another gift we should be grateful for.

Have you had my meatballs yet?

I blame Patrick for this result! How is it possible? Me? the archetype nekkid cook like Jamie Oliver my hero! I love four things in life with a passion, well maybe more than four but the top two are my kids then Bikes and Cooking! This sucks...
You Are a Learning Cook

You've got the makings of an excellent cook, and the desire to be one.
But right now, you're just lacking the experience. You couldn't be a top chef yet, but you could be an apprentice.
Clearly Blogthings has never had my Italian Meatballs yet, I am famous for them... I am peeved... Speaking of peeved, Blogger via IE is broken... I just cannot log in! Yet when I dropped a comment over at KatieB and gave my log in data I could access the dashboard... what is up with that! Thanks KatieB for letting me use your comments as a back door to my blogs, Firefox has no issues in this regard. I suspect it was the recent Java Update that Microfart insisted on doing... grrrrr.
I was pleasantly surprised by my seamstress though... she fixed my favourite jeans as well as the two new ones I had splitteddowntheseam and my boxers I sometimes use for sleeping... sometimes things are not as well stitched as one would like and as the saying goes... a stitch in time saves nine. The total wa R36.00, works out to R6 per item! Now I must dig out all the other duds that need some love and attention, I love a pair of well worn jeans but some I have in my cupboard are not for public use any more, unless they can be made respectable once more... I hope so.
Oh... by the way... "Bloemfontein - Wing Eddie Fredericks struck twice in three minutes to clinch the Free State Cheetahs' 44-18 (half-time 10-6) win over the Blue Bulls in an enthralling Currie Cup match in Bloemfontein on Saturday." What can I say... the White Tornado is at it again! M just let me know that the Cheetah Girls won their game as well... 15-11! (Doing a victory war dance!) Whoooo boy!
L went to see Die Hard 4 and she enjoyed it... must be good then for her to enjoy a Man Thing movie! I may go and see it tomorrow if M feels up to it after his flight back from Cape Town. Either that or The Bourne Ultimatum or The Simpsons... I need a laugh or two. I also picked up a copy of Shrek3, the soundtrack and 100 80's Hits. Some good music on both albums... so I will exit with track 11 from Shrek...

What I Gotta Do - Macy Gray

Oooooooooh

Yeah, Girl a boy and a girl,
Never thought I'd have babies,
Looking up to me,
Wanna give them all the world,
Yeah, trying to make it, always gone,
You say, mommy don't go, ooh ooh,
And I don't wanna leave, uh uh (I don't wanna leave).

It's what I gotta do,
There's no place that I'd rather be than there with you,
It's what I gotta do to take care of you,
Make it right, ooh (make it right, make it right)
And I never make it,
But I have to hope you understand the circumstances,
I'll be there the second I get the chance,
What I gotta do.

Yeah, only you can rely,
Wanna give you the best of everything,
So I miss some things,
But you're always on my mind (always on my mind)
Yeah, I'm gonna show you the world,
But it ain't easy, ooh ooh,
But I don't wanna leave you (I don't wanna leave).

It's what I gotta do,
There's no place that I'd rather be than there with you,
It's what I gotta do to take care of you, (oh yeah)
Make it right, ooh (make it right, make it right)
And I never make it,
But I have to hope you understand the circumstances,
I'll be there the second I get the chance, (I'll be there)
What I gotta do.

Stars are in your eyes,
The sun is in your flower,
Easy to my churches,
You show me what my purpose is,
Girl, a boy, and a girl,
Sweetest in my world (sweetest in my world)
Hey hey, hey hey heyyyyyaaaah.

It's what I gotta,
It's what I gotta,
It's what I gotta take, ooooh.

It's what I gotta do,
There's no place that I'd rather be than there with you,
It's what I gotta do to take care of you, (a girl, a boy, and a girl)
Make it right, ooh (make it right, make it right)
And I never make it,
But I have to hope you understand the circumstances,
I'll be there the second I get the chance,
What I gotta do.
What I gotta do.
What I gotta do.
What I gotta do.
